HAM RADIO LICENSING & OPERATING INFORMATION
Being DX is better than working it! Fortunately, getting a license for VP5 is not difficult and we can arrange it for you. The colorful license issued by the local authorities is great for framing, is a wonderful souvenir of your visit and a conversation starter with visitors to your shack.
A few important things to know…
Although Turks and Caicos Islands is a friendly tourist destination, VP5 does NOT recognize reciprocal licensing with USA hams under CEPT. You MUST apply for your VP5 license in advance which will be emailed to you or will be waiting for you upon arrival at Harbour Rock. Your US license will be the basis for issuing your TCI license with equivalent operating privileges. Your call sign will be VP5/[your call].
VP5 does have a Special Events licensing program, similar to USA, where you may apply for a single-letter suffix for a particular activity or contest in addition to your VP5/[your call] operator license. There is an extra fee and the call sign is subject to availability and approval to avoid confusion with prior users. Each op must also have his or her own VP5/ license. Contact us if this is of interest.
Visitor Licenses are now processed directly by K4QPL (including visitors not staying at Harbour Rock). Please contact us for details and application forms. Allow 30 days for processing. VP5 does not have a QSL bureau. Use your home QTH or LOTW.
