HARBOUR ROCK—UPDATE ON COVID-19
The Turks and Caicos Islands have been tightly restricted during this pandemic. Fortunately, the government did all the right things at the right time to control the situation. One writer compared the island to a castle with a moat and when the invasion threatened, they “raised the drawbridge”. The airport was closed, a 24/7 curfew was initiated and critical supplies were brought in, including state of the art testing equipment. As a result there have been few cases and spread has been extremely limited. Ocean shipping has continued and the island is fully supplied with food and all necessities.
Some of the more drastic restrictions on local residents have now been eased and the airport has re-opened. Social distancing and other preventative measures will be continued for as long as needed. Local businesses are operating similar to the U.S. to minimize personal contact and masks are needed.
According to local sources, inquiries are coming in strong for not only rental accommodation but purchase of condos and single family housing as word of the excellent handling of the situation by local government becomes known throughout the world.
What about Harbour Rock?
We have began hosting guests again! Being a very private villa with a private pool, a private vehicle and plenty of Caribbean sunshine, we believe risks are no greater, and probably much less, than other vacation destinations. Nevertheless, our staff will be making extra efforts to sanitize the property after each visit.
Harbour Rock had high occupancy in 2019 with most weeks booked months in advance. We expect even more demand when things are back to normal. If you simply can’t visit during the remainder of 2020, get your application in early for 2021 to avoid disappointment. Book direct with us for personal service.
